Christian Program

Edmonton Christian Schools offer a comprehensive Christian education with teachers and staff from diverse denominational backgrounds. Our Teaching for Transformation (TfT) framework, integrating the Alberta curriculum within a Christian worldview, emphasizes identity formation as both learners and disciples of Jesus. We prioritize faith, learning, and service integration throughout the curriculum, emphasizing accountability and reconciliation over punishment through biblically-based restorative practices.

Learning with Purpose. Living with Faith.

At Edmonton Christian Schools (ECS), we offer more than just an education; we provide a distinct, faith-based alternative program within the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB). By weaving the Alberta curriculum through our unique Teaching for Transformation (TfT) framework, we help students see their learning as a vital part of God’s story.

Our Teaching Framework: Teaching for Transformation (TfT)

TfT is the heartbeat of our classrooms. It invites students to discover their identity in Christ and equips them to live as faithful disciples who make a meaningful impact in the world—both now and in the future.

Our approach is built on three core practices:

  • Storyline: We connect classroom content to God’s redemptive work, helping students understand why their learning matters in the context of the biblical narrative.
  • Throughlines: Students develop discipleship habits across all subjects, learning to reflect God’s character, seek justice, care for creation, and serve others in their daily lives.
  • Formational Learning Experiences (FLEX): We believe in “Real work, Real needs, Real people”. Students are given tangible opportunities to put their learning into action by serving others in meaningful ways. This framework is rooted in the Biblical Story (CFRR): recognizing God’s good Creation, the distortion of the Fall, the restoration found in Redemption through Jesus, and the call to join in the Renewal of all things through the Holy Spirit.
